How to read your result
Each time the spacebar goes down counts as one press. If you hold the key, your computer repeats it, but the repeats are ignored, so holding counts once.
Presses per second is your presses divided by the time, rounded to two decimals. For example, 42 presses in 5 seconds is 8.40 per second.
- Timed (1, 5, 10 or 60 seconds): the timer starts with your first press. Presses in the 0.8 seconds after time runs out are ignored. Esc or Stop cancels the run.
- Free: counts until you press Stop or Esc. Presses per second appears once you have pressed for at least 1 second.
Your record is kept for each length. Timed records are presses per second, the free mode record is the most presses. Records are saved in this browser only.
While the test area is selected, Space does not scroll the page. Tab still moves on, and clicking outside the area stops the test.
Troubleshooting
Pressing Space scrolls the page
Click the test area first, or press Tab until it is selected. Space is only caught while the area is selected.
Some presses did not count
- The test area must stay selected. If you clicked somewhere else, click the area again.
- Windows: Filter Keys can ignore quick repeated presses. Open Settings, then Accessibility, then Keyboard, and turn off Filter Keys.
- Mac: Slow Keys adds a delay before a press counts. Open System Settings, then Accessibility, then Keyboard, and turn off Slow Keys.
One press counts as two
A worn spacebar switch can bounce. Check it in the keyboard test.
I am on a phone or tablet
This test needs a physical keyboard. Connect a Bluetooth or USB keyboard, or try the CPS test to measure tapping speed instead.

Privacy
Only the spacebar is counted, and only while the test area is selected. Records are stored in this browser only. How it works
