The short version
- Tests run in your browser. Microphone audio, camera video and test results are never sent to us or to anyone else.
- We do not use cookies for tracking, and there are no accounts or sign up forms.
- We count visits and test usage anonymously so we can fix problems and improve the site.
What stays on your device
| Data | Where it goes |
|---|---|
| Microphone audio | Measured in your browser. Never uploaded. Recordings in the mic test live in memory and are discarded when you leave the page. |
| Camera video | Shown in your browser only. Never uploaded or saved. |
| Key presses, clicks, typed text | Counted in your browser only. Never uploaded. |
| Theme choice and your records (for example CPS records) | Saved in your browser’s local storage on this device. You can clear it at any time in your browser settings. |
What we collect
Visit statistics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies or fingerprinting. It records page views, the referring page, country, browser type and page load speed in aggregate.
Anonymous test events. When you use a test, your browser may send a small anonymous event such as “mic test started” or “camera access denied”. Each event contains only: the event name, the test name, the page language, browser and operating system type, the site version, an error code, and one whole number (for example how many milliseconds something took). It never contains audio, video, your results, what you typed, cookies, or your full browser details. We send at most five events per page view.
Server logs. Our host, Cloudflare, processes your IP address to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We do not store IP addresses with the events above.
Advertising
The site does not show ads today. If we add ads in the future, we will update this policy first, including how ad partners may use cookies, web beacons and IP addresses, and we will ask for consent where the law requires it.
Children
Kensa Lab is a general audience site. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Your choices
- You can block or allow microphone and camera access at any time in your browser settings.
- You can clear local storage for this site in your browser settings.
- You can use the site with a content blocker; all tests still work.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
