Kensa Lab is a collection of free tests you can run in your browser: microphone, webcam, speakers, keyboard, mouse and screen, plus clicking speed, reaction time and typing speed.
Kensa (検査) means inspection in Japanese. A lab is a place where things are measured carefully. That is the whole idea: open a test, get a clear answer in seconds, and know what to do next.
What we care about
- Your privacy. Tests run on your device. Sound, video and results are never uploaded. There is no sign up and no tracking cookies. Read how it works and our privacy policy.
- Accurate numbers. Values such as decibels, note names, words per minute and clicks per second are calculated by code, not written by hand. Where a result depends on your hardware, the page says so.
- Clear help. Every test explains what the result means and what to try when something does not work.
- Access for everyone. We aim for WCAG 2.2 AA. See our accessibility statement.
How the site is made
Kensa Lab is built and maintained by a small team with help from automation. Software assists with writing code, checking pages and drafting explanations. Every fact and number on the site is checked against code or official documentation before it is published, and a person reviews new kinds of pages before they go live.
